World of Echo
Even after completing my MLIS, I could't get a full-time library gig for a couple years (late 2016 is when it finally happened). So these recordings are from when I was working part-time in the evenings, and I'd get home to my parents' basement.
Favorite track: No. 4 (digital remaster).
I found a lot more of my pre-Fewer Notes music, so it's time for another archival release (likely the only one left that I'll do, because I see at least some value in these lo-fi ambient recordings, but I don't care for the other stuff I found). These are all DAWless, and that's primarily why they're so extra lo-fi, bass-heavy, and muddy sounding (just direct to tape improvisations). Obvi, these were all released under a previous moniker; the album titles were This Old Heart of Mine (tracks 1-8), Hot Knife (tracks 9-23), and Oil Spot (tracks 24-29). Anyhoo, please enjoy this music that was influenced by the following: A.R. Kane, Beyoncé's self-titled album, Jim Black & AlasNoAxis, Bowery Electric, Bows, Broadcast, Marion Brown, Don Cherry, Alice Coltrane, Miles Davis, Eric Dolphy, Julius Eastman, Brian Eno, Morton Feldman, Gaussian Curve, Jimmy Giuffre, Jon Hassell, Suzanne Kraft, DJ Krush, Archy Marshall’s A New Place 2 Drown, Gigi Masin, Massive Attack, Minamo, Jason Moran, Mount Kimbie, Move D, Milton Nascimento, Jonny Nash, Meshell Ndegeocello, Nosaj Thing’s second and third albums, Frank Ocean, Pauline Oliveros, Augustus Pablo, Portishead, Steve Reich, Arthur Russell, Scientist, DJ Screw, Seefeel, Matthew Shipp, Wayne Shorter, Sigur Rós, Sly and Robbie, DJ Spooky, Craig Taborn’s Chants album, Tortoise, and the Wildflowers: The New York Loft Jazz Sessions box-set.

I make music that I want to listen to myself, and that helps me mentally stay afloat. Some people that are not me have been known to like it too. If you turn out to be one of them, then that's cool beans. ♡
A compelling mix of acid jazz, psychedelic rock, and downtempo grooves make for a uniquely funky listening experience. Bandcamp New & Notable Dec 14, 2023
